At that time, there was nothing to help quilters who had lost quilts to get the word out. Maria, not being one to sit around and let others do the work, started the website "Lost Quilts Come Home." Since then, she has re-designed the website. Label the quilt– sounds so simple, but if you took a little bit of extra time to write or print on a piece of fabric and then stitch it on the quilt, that will help. Give info on it that would help it get returned if it was taken.
I have instructed all of them to label, no matter how awesome the quilt is, or how ordinary, so they can have a record of their work. The younger girl is already working on her #2 quilt and planning what she will write on that label. I am so glad I learned that labels are an absolute part of ANY quilt that leaves my hands. Am so happy to see this one returned to one of the makers. Lost Quilt Come Home in hopes to reunite more lost quilts with their owners.

I think it’s amazing more packages aren’t misdirected. The rights owner of the image continues to own the image; uploading your image to Prime Publishing does not transfer ownership. The time varies depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the image file. For a 400KB image, for example, you should expect 2 to 4 minutes over a 56KB modem and under 1 minute for DSL or cable modem. Images featuring phone numbers, mail addresses, or URLs. You can watermark an image with copyright information.
Glad the quilt owner was found, so sad some people steal things. Nice that you are helping with that cause. Ever since then, a volunteer has tried to find out who it belongs to. This quilt is truly a “Guild” quilt as it was designed by a guild member, blocks were made by guild members, a bee put all the blocks together. The hand appliqued leaves and cardinals were done by Kim Zebrowski and the custom quilting was done by Cathy Kirk. What a wonderful story with a happy ending and a great reason to sign your quilts! In Washington, IL tornado zone, they are finding quilts that aren't labeled and having trouble finding who they belong to. Labels should give names, towns, etc. that would help clue people where to look for owners.

I have an idea, though it will not come to fruition. How about a TV show called "Cold Quilt Files" or "America's Most Wanted Quilts"? I know that won't happen, but it would get the word out wouldn't it! Seriously, I do hope these quilts are found and returned. Quilting takes hours and hours, and especially heartbreaking when made for loved ones.
